Why do people assume a guy is gay if he has small hoop earrings?

I’m just asking because I have them and I am not gay lol. I am a 25 year old med student that has a preppy professional look. I don’t get the whole you’re gay if you have those kind of earrings look. I think guages are nasty and diamond studs have wanna be ghetto rapper written all over them.

For some reason, some straight people are obsessed with the idea that we have some secret code to indicate to other gay people that we are gay. If that were indeed true, we would not have all of the ‘is he or isn’t he’ questions we get in here all the time. Why people have this obsession is beyond me. It’s like they just HAVE TO KNOW if someone is gay. It’s really none of their business.
