Shoud a Registered Nurse who treats their stepchild at home be reported for mal-treatment?

My child developed MRSA (drug resistant staph infection) on his nose. While under a doctors care, he visited his dad over an extended holiday. His dad took him to another doctor who said he didn’t have staph at all and changed his medication to treat a regular skin infection all without consulting me. My son’s regular Dr. wanted to send him to an infectious disease specialist, but my ex insisted for 9 straight days it was getting better, so my son didn’t get to go to the specialist. While at their home my son’s stepmom, a RN, poked and prodded at the absess/puss pocket daily to drain it. Later the ENT Specialist stated that he couldn’t believe an RN did this, as the blood vessels around the nose have no valves in them, so prodding with a needle only drove the infection back up into his face! He came home 9 days later w/ a knot the size of a peanut M&M under his eye. He’s been in the hospital going on 3 wks. Nursing board says she acted out her scope. Should I file complaint?

Can you medically PROVE, with a doctor’s statement etc., that what she did caused the m&m size bump?

Then can you PROVE she was acting in her capacity as a nurse or as a stepmother concerned about her stepchild?

If you reported me and I was ticked at that I would just say I was treating my stepchild as a mother figure.
