Are all Russian wives like mine?

I have been married to a Russian lady for the past 10 years. Our marriage is great, I’m not complaining, she is a housewife and she takes very good care of me and our family. I honestly could write pages on everything she does for me, she is very traditional. The only problem, she is very high maintenance, she always has to wear expensive clothes, expensive jewelry, drives an expensive car, and honestly believes no other woman is better then her (but when it comes to sex, that might be true). I have never seen so much pride in a person, it does not affect our marriage, she does not act this way with me, but she turns her nose up to everyone else, and sometimes it’s just embarrassing. I’m known to have the “stuck up” wife. Is this something common with Russian women? or maybe just mine?
Also before anyone thinks it, no, shes not a mail order bride. I met her in Russia when I was there as a government contractor, and shes not a young girl. I’m 42 and shes 41.

Mail order or not, the country she came from can be very harsh on women who understand you have to be strong to survive. Coming to America she likely feels she has risen above her “station” in life, even if you do not have a large income. I have met several mail order brides as well as women born and raised in Russia who met an American and married them. They have a strong pride in themselves and feel the need to prove they are better then others for whatever reason. It is possible they are trying to pretend to themselves that they have never seen hard times. I find this true in women who came from poor backgrounds and then either marry into money, or all of a sudden come into large sums of money. They tend to be a bit snobbish and want to show the world how much better they are. Example is my cousin-in-law. She is a poor Irish girl, married and came to America. When her husband really came into cash she all of a sudden was a major snob. She would always advertise how much she spent on that purse, or those pair of shoes or oh look at my husbands new toy (another expensive useless car.)
